Biography
My passion for pottery started in high school. It was a rewarding hobby for 25 years while I worked full time in sales and marketing. I am lucky that I can now make a full time commitment to work within my home studio.
As an artist, I am inspired by the textures and colors found in nature. Much of this is reflected in my work. I work with stoneware, porcelain and sculpture clay with very different results. Much of my work is functional using stoneware clay, is dinnerware safe made with lead free glazes. These pieces are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. The details for each piece of pottery are noted in the information provided.
I live in a very natural setting and use items from the woods, creeks and streams as texture pressed into the clay. Each piece is created by me personally and has its own unique features. I alter most of my work so it has creative imperfections making each piece different. Perfectly unlike another!
Over the years, I have been a part of many ceramic programs in Pennsylvania and Colorado and opened my own home studio, Winking Lizard Pottery in 2007. I hope you enjoy my pottery as much as I enjoy making it!
