Things to know about your new Stoneware Pottery Pieces
Handmade ovenware like Casserole Dishes should never be taken directly from the freezer to the oven, nor be placed directly into a pre-heated oven. Treat handmade ovenware similar to glass – do not shock the pot with quick changes in heat and cold. Stoneware can withstand heat but not the thermal shock of hot to cold or cold to hot too quickly. Allow dishes to cool and heat slowly along with food items. Place room temperature dishes into cool oven and gradually heat to the temperature desired. Let dish cool after being removed from oven before putting in refrigerator. I do not recommend freezing stoneware pieces.
Handmade ovenware will not withstand direct heat from a stovetop.
Stoneware pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe.
Please handle your stoneware piece with care. If for any reason a serving or ovenware piece chips, it should no longer be used for food service. The piece could have a crack you are unable to see and therefore should not be used in contact with food.
Unless noted, all of my pottery is made from stoneware clay. These pieces are made to be used! Stoneware clay is one of the most durable clay bodies. Each piece is fired to over 2200 degrees, making it oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. All the glazes I use are non toxic so unless noted as decorative only, it is perfectly safe to eat and drink from all of my stoneware pieces. Please free to email me if you have any specific questions. I hope you enjoy your pottery for years to come.
